Feature and Follow Friday

So, its been a while since I have done one of these, due to school and stress and such. So, Im glad to finally be doing one, and is this cool--

Im a feature!

I had totally forgotten that I have signed up for this, and what a surprise I got when I got parajunee`s e-mail today!

I guess I should say something about my blog --

Yes, I have changed the name. Mine was boring. I have had this blog up for about 3-4 months. I should really start keeping track of stuff. I post reviews for books, and once for a C-D. I host givaways, and I do currently have one going on right now. I have managed to, after weeks of fustrating work, managed to get a working Follow By E-mail button, my goodreads page on the sidebars, plenty of widgits, including one where you can find my twitter and FaceBook., and, what Im most proud of   -- my background!

I love having this blog, and being able to follow other blogs and just to be able to be in the blooging community. Yes, Im not very popular right now, but that doesnt really matter because Im still doing what I love the most:

Reading and writting my opinions.

So, onto the question Im supposed to be answering --

Q: If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why?

A: So, this is really hard. I would have to choose.... Incarceron. Its the dream world, despite some flaws, but its combined with things I love. I love the old-timey feeling mixed with the modern day feeling, and I dont think I would be bord exploring that world from the rest of my life. Or eternity. Whichever one comes first.

Thank you for veiwing my blog, and thank you Parajunkee for letting me be your feature. See you next friday!

Review: The Iron Witch + One More

The Iron Witch (The Iron Witch, #1)Freak. That's what her classmates call seventeen-year-old Donna Underwood. When she was seven, a horrific fey attack killed her father and drove her mother mad. Donna's own nearly fatal injuries from the assault were fixed by magic—the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. The child of alchemists, Donna feels cursed by the magical heritage that destroyed her parents and any chance she had for a normal life. The only thing that keeps her sane and grounded is her relationship with her best friend, Navin Sharma.
When the darkest outcasts of Faerie—the vicious wood elves—abduct Navin, Donna finally has to accept her role in the centuries old war between the humans and the fey. Assisted by Xan, a gorgeous half-fey dropout with secrets of his own, Donna races to save her friend—even if it means betraying everything her parents and the alchemist community fought to the death to protect. -from Goodreads

Yay! Another review! So, I have been enjoying my Christmas break so far. I mean, c`mon, whats not to love? However, my reading habits kinda die when Im not at school. Nobody to ignore, really, plus Iv Been working on the blog. Like the background? ;)

I picked this book up because it had two things I liked -- Witches and very pretty cover art. Thats what I look for in a book. My mom read it, said it was good, so I decided to put down The Lost Gate and read this one. So, for the past two days I have been reading this book, and this is what I think about when I see/look/think of this book --

Its a very easy read, not too thin, but not too thick. It combines many things, like Feys and Alchemist (if I even spelled that right) and things like that. It was pretty easy, but the thing that got me was... there werent any witches! Thats just what the wood elves call Donna.

Another thing that go me, and I know it shouldnt, was the fact that one of the feys in the story, one of the main ones, is a... guy. I just cant picture it, though I know its possible. He has secrets, but its kinda sad that we didnt get to go into depth about them. I mean, we get to see some of his secrets, but hes kinda left all misterious and all.

Note to author: That gets old. Really fast.

And speaking of getting depth, we dont really get to see what we want to of Donnas world. Sure, when we need the information, she tells us about that. And I do mean tells us. The book may be in third person, but it might as well be in first because it was all about Donna.

Another note to author: Expand the view! It would have been really cool to just see, if not in snipets, Navin`s feelings of Donna and how he was taken and all. Even Xan was kinda interesting. It made me wanna know what he was thinking a bit.

And, not to be mean, but through out most of the story, Donna seemed to be... well, stupid, for lack of words. And, Im pretty sure you all know what Im talking about when I say... it was too fast!

Their feelings I mean. It wasnt even a day after Donna and Xan met that she thinks something like -- "I think Im falling for him".

WTF?!

But, I will admit this:
The story was creative and well written. I dont think I have ever read a book where the enemies of the Fey were Alchemists. Im kinda not sure I wanna read the second book. Its another one of those stories where you just can imagine a sequal -- its fine on its own.

But, if I did get one thing out of this book, its that I now really, really wanna wear Iron. Maybe an Iron cross? It will keep BOTH vampires and Faeries away. ;P Whatcha think?

I rate this book:

(4 out of 5)

The Wood Queen (out February 8th 2012)-

The Wood Queen (The Iron Witch, #2)Donna Underwood is in deep trouble. An ancient alchemical order is holding her accountable for destroying the last precious drops of the elixar of life. Never mind the fact that Donna was acting to free her friend, Navin, from the dangerous clutches of the Wood Queen at the time. But what the alchemists have in store is nothing compared to the wrath of the fey. The Wood Queen has been tricked and Donna must pay. Get ready for all hell - quite literally - to break loose...

Review: Bloodlust plus 2 more

It's all about the blood...
Comprised of three novellas, Blood Lust gives readers a snapshot look at the world of the Preternaturals Series.

KEPT: As a cat therian (shifter), Greta's blood is already sought after to enhance spells and potions, but due to a quirk of her birth, her blood is potent enough to kill for. When her tribe plans to sacrifice her, Greta must ally herself with Dayne, the dangerous local sorcerer, and the only person strong enough to protect her.

CLAIMED: For a vampire, Anthony isn't a picky eater, but he's drawn to Charlee's blood more than any other. Like a fine wine saved for a special occasion, he's denied himself this pleasure. But one night, high from the potent magical blood of another, he claims his prize and loses control. Ashamed of almost killing the one woman who means anything to him, he wipes her memory of the event. When Charlee awakens with complete amnesia, Anthony is the only one who can clean up the mess he's made.

MATED: Because of the vampiric blood that has run through her veins since birth, Jane has been a target for vampires who resent a human being "kindred." She's forced to disguise herself as a vampire groupie to appease them and safeguard her life. When she's abruptly given to Cole, the leader of the werewolf pack, to satisfy a gambling debt, she discovers the blood running through her veins has a far greater impact on her destiny than she ever imagined.

First of, thanks to Zoe Winters for my copy! I absolutely loved reading it.

Although it took a couple of chapters to actually get into the book, the stories were actually quite nice. I enjoyed reading about how Zoe made her own world of vampires and werewolves and plain out supernaturals.
I also loved how the stories were connected. One character in one story would star in the next. I like how she took the time and made sure we understood the characters.
I really do want to read the other stories, and I suggest that others read it. I know this review isnt all that long, but this is all I can say about it. There really wasnt anything bad about this book. Zoe Winters, your an amazing writer.

My Rating:

(Four out of Five)

The Hghlander`s Heart plus 2 more

The Highlander's Heart (Highlander #2)Fleeing into the wilderness to escape an abusive marriage, Lady Isabelle Tynsdale would sooner face down a wild boar than spend another night with her wretched husband. Battered by the elements, desperate to elude a band of attackers, and defending herself against, as fate would have it, a wild boar she is rescued by the handsome Laird David Campbell.
Campbell knows holding Isabelle captive for ransom is his best chance to temper the storm threatening to destroy his clan. The ransom of an English countess should be more than enough to pay off his debts to England and save him from an unwanted marriage. But Isabelle didn't escape her husband just to become another man's captive and Laird Campbell is seriously misguided if he thinks she's going to go quietly. - From Goodreads

Omg, I loved this book. Read it in like... 9 hours. Mom read it in less XD I mean it. One minute she was like four pages in and the next minute, she was halfway through. Im like -- WTF?!
>.<

It is true, this book is really awesome, and I am so happy I won it off of a blog and now have it on my book shelf. I was mostly interested in it because I love highlanders. Their just something about a man with a sexy-ass brogue in a skirt -- er... kilt. lol. But, Im glad I got it.

First off, the romance wasnt rushed. They took it nice and steady, and hell, didnt even know they liked each other like that. Oh, they liked liked -wink- each other. But they didnt even sleep with each other in THAT way, even though they wanted to realllyyy bad. Yay for morality!

Another thing is that I got more into depth with the history between Scotland and England. And to be honest, I didnt know that you only had to cross a river to get onto scottish soil. Another thing I didnt realize was that Scotland even  had a king. Sure, one of the characters in my book was a scottish princess, but that was out of my obsession with scottish people.
I like how the characters in this book were conficted about their loyalty for their king. really Juicy. Ate it up. Also gave us a couple of really good spats.
I didnt even realize that the hatred between Scotland and England was so thick. That also made for some juicy scenes. Thank god for good hearted Scottish guys! Am I right?
Or, as Isabelle calls him, a barbarian. Lol. I would swoon in her place. But thats just me.

Another really good thing about this book that made me eat it was the mystery. Nothing was really exposed until the end, and Im afraid to admit that most of the books I read now are very... open, for lack of words. I can guess the ending and that makes for a bad read. This one, you never knew who the real culprit is!
It opens up with a few hints on why Isabelle was running from her husband, and further on, she reflect on the past, to her wedding day, and why she had run from her husband. But, it never outright says what he did until she confesses that day to David.

Which that brings me to my next thought. David? I have never heard of that name on a highlander. It was interesting.
Another thing, under that subject, is that I got really in depth with the characters, and not just the main characters. I got to see what was going on in another clan, and the problems they did, and I have to say, this is one good peice of historical fiction that I have ever read. EVER!

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this book. I got the advanced readers copy, where the errors werent fixed. That was confusing and annoying, but thats just the copy I recieved. But no complaining from me!

I rate this book a Five out of Five, and if I could go any further, I would. I HIGHLY reccomend you read this book!

The only way this Horseman can keep herself—and everyone else—safe is to keep her distance. Arik Wagner knows the saying “love hurts” better than most, yet he never thought stealing a kiss from Limos would land him in Hell. Literally. It takes all his military training to survive the demon torture, but once he’s topside, Arik realizes that the agony has just begun. With the Apocalypse looming and Satan demanding his bride, will Arik and Limos surrender to the desire smoldering between them? Or will giving in to their passion unleash hell on earth?

I will admitt that I have not read the first book. But I dont give a damn! :D
I loved this book, and it combined a few of my favorite things:
Greek mythology
Romance
people
more romance
uh.... yea, I got nothing else.
Who knows why I love the books I read?? I will tell you one thing, though -- I adore books that make me cry. And this one made me cry... TWICE!
It automatically started out with some action, what with Arik landing himself in Hell and all. He really was in a lot of pain, and I kinda (didnt) feel for him. His pain apparently didnt seem to be elaborate enough. >.<
However, I will point out one thing. DEMONS HOLD A FRIGGEN GRUDGE!
And they say humans are bad...
I mean, I would have forgiven Limos for what she did. She was young and foolish and Im going to stop while Im ahead.
Really want to spill spoilers. Badly!
Some of the situations werent elabortated enough, it seemed. I get what goes on and such, but I dont get how they came up with the solutions.

But one thing that really got me was that they fall in love WAY too quickly. So far, my favorite couple is Than and Regan. Her names hard to remember. dont know why considering thats the name of one of the Valkyrie from the Immortals After Dark series.
They didnt fall in love too quickly. But man, when your called to get nocked up, she sure as hell gets nocked up. >.<

Another note: Im really going to stop reading excerpts from the back of the books. I WANT LETHAL RIDER!

Okay, so, I know this review isnt all that great, but I think I deserve a break. I have about two or three more reviews to do, and I have been suffering from migranes. I gave you all I could remember from the book, and if its not enough, then sorry. I read it, against better judgement, while my head was throbbing. Good news is I am getting something to end the misery! Now all I have to do is deal with my mouth...

P.S: Enter my givaway! Im giving a couple EBook copies of Blood Rights by Kristen Painter away! After that, almost immediatly, I will give away a paper back volume of a book I pull off my book shelf. No idea what it is, though.
Enjoy!
Update: I rate this book a 5 out of 5
Sorry I didnt post it originally. Iv really been out of it. Thanks for comment(s) :)

Win an EBook copy of Blood Rights by Kristen Painter!

Blood Rights (House of Comarré, #1)The lacy gold mapped her entire body. A finely-wrought filigree of stars, vines, flowers, butterflies, ancient symbols and words ran from her feet, up her legs, over her narrow waist, spanned her chest and finished down her arms to the tips of her fingers.
Born into a life of secrets and service, Chrysabelle’s body bears the telltale marks of a comarré—a special race of humans bred to feed vampire nobility. When her patron is murdered, she becomes the prime suspect, which sends her running into the mortal world…and into the arms of Malkolm, an outcast vampire cursed to kill every being from whom he drinks.

Now Chrysabelle and Malkolm must work together to stop a plot to merge the mortal and supernatural worlds. If they fail, a chaos unlike anything anyone has ever seen will threaten to reign
