Book Depository

They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Arik Wagner, a soldier with the U.S. Army's paranormal unit, the R-XR, kissed a girl and liked it. And then he went to hell as punishment. Where he's spent weeks being tortured…and plotting revenge.
Limos, Horsewoman of the Apocalypse, isn't your average girl. She's immortal, dangerous, and her fiancé is Satan himself. In a moment of weakness, she gave in to her desire and kissed Arik, triggering her fiancé's wrath – and his claim on her. In order to save Arik, and the world, Limos must make a dangerous pact with her recently turned evil brother, Pestilence. A deal that might just cost her her soul…and her heart.

                                      Excerpt

Arik Wagner didn’t know how long he’d been in hell. Time was one never-ending, no-lube fuck when you were in the dark and in nonstop agony. And these bastard demons wouldn’t let him die. He’d tried, but they just kept healing him.
At least right now it was quiet, a few stolen moments in which he could sleep. Sleep and dreams were his only pleasure…even the dreams that were about the female who had landed him in this hellhole in the first place.
Limos.
Closing his eyes, he settled back against the cold stone — bliss on his bruised, bare skin. With a little effort, he shut out the rumbling of his stomach and the incessant drip of water outside the cell that was intended to drive him crazy with want, since the demons rationed his water, and what little he got was usually stagnant and disgusting anyway.
He tried to think of his sister, Runa, and his nephews. Tried to force his thoughts toward his job with the U.S. Army’s paranormal unit, the R-XR, as well as the forced-on-him involvement with the civilian demon-fighting organization, The Aegis. Tried to think about his escape plan…anything other than Limos, but his mind kept drifting to the beautiful ebony-haired, violet-eyed female. He hadn’t liked her when he first met her, mainly because she’d kicked his ass, broken his ribs, and threatened to crush his organs into marmalade. Marmalade…God, he was hungry.
So, no, he hadn’t been overly fond of the third Horseman of the Apocalypse.
Still wasn’t. Because of her, he’d been dragged to Sheoul, the demon realm deep in the earth, stripped naked, and tortured within an inch of his life. Repeatedly. And the weird thing was that all the demons who held him captive wanted was for him to say her name. Her freaking name.
What. The. Hell.
So far, he hadn’t broken. Well, he’d broken, but the creepy-ass demons of unknown species kept a Seminus demon around to heal him so he wouldn’t die and they could keep breaking his bones and peeling off his skin. They’d tried just about everything, from torture, to sleep depravation, to starvation, to getting into his head and making him think he was somewhere much more pleasant so they could trick him into saying her name.
They wouldn’t tell him why they wanted him to speak her name, and though it would be so easy to let it slip, to finally free himself of the torment, he couldn’t. Anything important to the evil bastards wasn’t good for mankind. And Limos had been pretty adamant as he’d been dragged down here, his skin shredding like he was being scraped over a cheese grater. Don’t say my name, Arik! No matter what they do to you, don’t speak my name!
Right. What if her name caused a worldwide earthquake or put a fissure in the earth that released all demons from Sheoul? And the thing was, Arik wasn’t sure how specific he had to be, so he hadn’t called Limos by any name. Not Li, her nickname, or Famine, the name she’d go by if and when her Seal broke.
Fitting that her name would be Famine, cuz he was famished.
His stomach grumbled, and he threw his hand over his abs as he thought about Limos, hoping like hell her Seal was safe. Apparently, breaking her Seal involved finding some ancient, tiny bowl engraved with her scales symbol. Once found, a Horseman had to drink from it. Drink…he’d give his right nut for a drink…
He swept his hand up and down his sunken-in belly, knowing his thirst and hunger were the least of his worries, because man, if her Seal broke, humans would truly understand the meaning of hell on earth. The Horsemen weren’t evil — they were, in fact, half-angel, half-demon, and in a constant walk-the-line mode. But if their Seals broke ahead of the biblical prophecy timeline, they would turn evil and lead the way to Armageddon.
Arik had already gotten a taste of what that would be like: Before he’d gotten his ass handed to him in battle by his brothers and sister, Pestilence had caused death and destruction everywhere he went. Now Arik’s captors indicated that the Horseman had regrouped, reassembled his forces, and was back to trying to facilitate the breaking of his siblings’s Seals so the end of days could finally begin.
What an asshole.
A rock dug into Arik’s butt, and he shifted, only to get poked by something else…the bone of some unfortunate previous cell inhabitant, probably. Still, he wasn’t about to lay down. Spiny hellrats had a charming habit of eating your face while you were asleep. At least if he was sitting up he could punt them across the cell.
Thanks so much for this, Limos.
How the hell could a single kiss get him into this mess? It wasn’t as if he’d forced himself on her. Yeah, he’d kissed her, and for one steamy, lingering heartbeat, she’d kissed him back. And then she’d flipped the hell out. Before he could gather his shock-addled thoughts, giant arms had punched out of the earth and dragged him here, where he’d been subjected to every torture and violation known to man. And then some, ‘cuz demons were creative as fuck.
Though he wasn’t sure why she’d freaked, he did know that Limos was responsible for every drop of his spilled blood. She’d said he’d pay for kissing her, and his captors confirmed it, relished telling him how “his lover’s” lack of self-control had been his downfall, how her selfishness was at fault and that it was why he was being tortured.
But that knowledge didn’t stop him from dreaming of him and her naked. Sometimes they were on a beach, both covered in suntan oil as he moved against her. Sometimes all he did was kiss her hand as he looked into her exotic eyes. Other times, he had her against the wall or was taking her from behind as she clung to a palm tree. His favorite erotic dream was the one where she was on her back in the ocean surf, and he was kneeling between her legs, tonguing her wet heat and tasting the salt water and her tropical cocktail essence.

She’d always smelled like coconuts and pineapple.
Man, he was starving.
And what was that saying? Right. Revenge was a dish best served cold…

Hush, Hush Series

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

---

OK, first impression was, as I mentioned in a previous blog post was that when I started reading it kinda seemed like a cross between the Fallen series by Lauren Kate and the Twilight series by Stephanie Myers. Beyond the fact of fallen angels, the Fallen series loosed its connections. However, the Twilight series still came to mind, even when I was reading the other two books.
I absolutely loved this book. Couldn't put it down and finished it in about 24 hours or less. I was surprised that I loved it so much, but it kept nagging at my mind. I read it whenever I had a chance and kinda wish that I made it last. Oh, well, cant get that back.
Nora and Patch aren't really common names for characters in a book quite as brilliant as this one, but I enjoyed the difference. I love how the story of the fallen and their spawn are portrayed in this story. You would think that they wouldn't hate the people who made their kind, but I guess logic isn't a part of this story for them. I mean, c`mon. The fallen angels gave the Nephil life, so they could at least spare two weeks of their life. Sheesh.
Another thing I LOVED about this book was that Patch and Nora didn't fall in love to quickly. They had their first kiss near the end of the story, and their romance wasn't rushed. That's what frustrates me about modern day romance novels. Its like, "Oh, I barely know you and I'm too impatient to let our feelings simmer, so Ill just say I love you now and get it over with". So, so, so ANNOYING!
Patch and Nora`s feelings for each other were discovered SLOWLY, their attraction shimmering under the surface until they were confused with it. That, my friends, is EPIC!
I rate this book a 5 out of 5.
---
Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something.

Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself increasingly in dangerous situations as she desperately searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts
---

Their isn't much opinion to this one. I read some of the beginning, got angry at the results, and skipped to the ending.
When you don't like the book, skip to the ending. It will save you the horror of reading it, but will give you answers. Well, not all. Still wondering how Marcie and Nora can be sisters and around the same age.
Okay! Spoiler there. Sorry, but its true.
I absolutely despised the turn of the events, the lies and EVERYTHING in this book. It started out so beautifully and ended with a cliffhanger! So, I propelled myself into Silence despite the fact that I resented the events in this book.
I kinda spared the book a little and gave it a 2 out of 5.

---

The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.
I stayed up most of the night and read through out this morning to finish this book. It was... wowzers! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It was defiantly a step up from the second book, and I appreciated that. SO many questions were answered, and the way it was placed in sequence made me sit on edge. I tried to go to sleep, but questions kept buzzing in my mind! So, now I'm sleep deprived and cranky.
Oh, well.
One thing I'm wondering about is how the next book is going to be written. There isn't really any questions to be asked by the end of the book except for "How is Nora going to control the Nephil?"
I really suggest this book, and Hush, Hush, to every single one of you if you haven't read it. I was prepared to not like it, but I was proven wrong!
Rated this 5 out of 5.

Honestly, I think that Becca should have stopped with Hush, Hush. I don't think she ruined the book, but it probably would have done better without the second and third books giving it a twisted plot. Not that I didn't love Silence. I did, honest.

My name is Lauren and my blog is Lauren’s Book Bag – not very original I know. Books have been my passion ever since I can remember and I turned my love of reading into a profession by becoming a college lecturer in English literature. I recently received my Ph.D. in Children’s literature and wrote on the Philosophy of Evil in J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
I have been blogging for about 5 months now and love every minute. My blog is quite eclectic but leans toward romance, particularly romantic suspense, paranormal romance and historical romance. In addition to reading and blogging, I enjoy watching films and playing video games.

My name is Jennifer, I'm 28 years old, and yes - I'm a bookaholic. There, I said it. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? I love to read. If you don't catch me reading, I'm most likely book shopping. I turned my spare bedroom into my own personal library. One day I came across a group of people on Facebook who are just as much into reading as I am. Book Club was started over our love of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. Finally we had other people to discuss our love of Eric with! Now we read and discuss many other series as well, focusing mainly on paranormal.

Talking books with a group led me to creating my blog. I thought to myself, what are some of the things I love most. The answer - books and dachshunds. So that's how Books and Barks was born. Its fun getting to share all of the wonderful books I've found with other readers. The focus on my blog is mostly adult and YA paranormal romance and fantasy, and some of my favorite authors are Jeaniene Frost, Nalini Singh, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Ilona Andrews and Eileen Wilks. Trust me, there are lots more!

Okay, enough about me. Back to my books I go...

Q: Letter to Santa: Tell Santa what books you want for Christmas!

A: Well, I really want the rest of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and the rest of the Immortals After Dark series. I want to start my collection of the Lords of the Underworld series, too. And, I need the second book for the Fallen Series, haha. I have the first and third, but not the second. I can go on and on and on about what books I want for Christmas, but I doubt I will get any soon.
Besides, Some people say I dont need any more books!
What do you think??

A Kiss of Shadows

The Barnes & Noble Review
Bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton steps outside her highly addictive Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter books to introduce readers to a new series of intrigue. A Kiss of Shadows is a sensual novel of dark fantasy that will both entertain and unsettle. In a manner reminiscent of Roger Zelazny's Amber series, Hamilton draws the reader into the adventures of two violent worlds: one a perilous mortal realm, the other a place of disturbing and often deadly magic.

In this alternate reality, the mystical Fey have always existed side by side with mankind, though not always calling attention to themselves. Many nations of the mortal realm closed their borders to the Fey, but the founding fathers of the United States sympathized with the magical beings and so opened America to high levels of immigration. Situated in Illinois, the Fey lands are a main tourist attraction and exist as a kind of "reservation" of sorcery.

Beautiful Princess Meredith of the Fey has been on the run from the Unseelie Court for several years, having taken the human identity of Meredith (Merry) Gentry and working as a private eye who handles cases with a supernatural bent. During a case involving a bizarre cult and Faerie artifacts, Meredith is forced to use her magic. She is immediately noticed by her aunt, the Queen of Air and Darkness, who resolves to have Meredith brought back to the Court.

The Queen sends her bodyguards to do the dirty work, but Meredith agrees to return home without a fight. The Queen seeks to find an heir to the throne because she feels her resentful and sadistic son, Prince Cel, isn't suitable to rule. She devises a strange contest between Meredith and Cel, decreeing that the first to bear a child shall have the crown -- and the loser will be put to death. Thus begins a violent struggle between the rivals that involves unbridled passions, malicious attacks, and bitter betrayals.

Hamilton has researched Celtic folklore in creating the Fey, but she has imbued these folk with a variety of personalities, from benevolent to psychopathic. This is an edgy, high-octane thriller filled with adventure and action; it's a deftly plotted tale that speeds from one imaginative story twist to another. Meredith is a unique and powerful protagonist whose humor and wit never hamper the strength of her resolve, moral fiber, and determination. With A Kiss of Shadows, Laurell K. Hamilton achieves new heights of stylish erotic fantasy with which to captivate and enchant her readers. (Tom Piccirilli)

Lovers that are actually seals, oil that makes you want to sleep with people, a man who has a mass of tenticles in his stomach -- WTF?!?!

This story is unlike any I have read, and Im not sure if thats a good or bad thing. Overall, I lied the idea of of the story. But, what I was NOT exprecting was all the sex- uality. The language wasnt bad- and trust me, I have accidently come across books that were worse than this one- but it seemed that Meradith slept (or tried to) with pretty much every guy she met.
It got really fustrating.

Halfway through I was thinking about whats going to be in the next book. So, she has to have a baby before her cousin does and she has to try not to get killed by her cousin`s followers.
The second should be easy, right? She probably scared the shit out of them. not gunna tell you why.
I guess there is going to be a big plot against her life, and I wonder how shes gunna make her goal in three years.

One thing I think is cool is the setting and stuff. you have the Unseelie Court, with mentions of the Seelie, but its not teh winter court like so many authors portray it. Its shadows and Darkness and I think thats cool as hell. But, as usual, the story is about a court royal. This one is about getting the crown.

One very confusing element in this book is whether or not the fae are known to the real world. It hints at it, but never says it outright. sure she works at a paranormal detective agency, but arent there a lot of those?

I am plannign on reading the next book, but it will be ways off. I have already started Hush, Hush, and so far its interesting. When Im reading it, Fallen and Twilight come to mind. Look out for that review.

4 out of 5 roses is my rating

P.S- Im taking book reccomendations!

Daughter of Smoke And Bone

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages--not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.

When one of the strangers--beautiful, haunted Akiva--fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

---
ZOMG!!! I absolutely LOVED this book! I got so engrossed in it, and despite the confusion on the p.o.v and the names I cant remember and such, it sucked me in. I loved how the author stretched out the suspence and weaved in a story that is so unlike any other that I have read. Never before have I read a story about an angel and 'Monsters'. They call them another name in this book, but I cant pronounce it, much less spell it.
I cried a few times, and laughed even more throughout my journey. I loved the ironic sence of humor the characters had, and the world in which they lived in.
I was so into this book that I yelled at it a few times and got pissed at the end. Wanna know why?? It said ---
To be continued...

ZOMG!!! it was fustrating!

Ok, off the ramblings now. Anywhooo... the stories of how the angels and the 'monsters' were made was kinda sad, but also... inspiring. I love when and author can create something like that and you have to wonder if its true or not. And every writer has their own opinion on a subject and weave them in different ways into their stories. Those are the best of all.
So, without giving away any spoilers, because, as I guess you can tell, this is a spoil free blog.

I rate it 5 out of 5 Roses because of the way the story was written and how wounderfully the character`s were portrayed. And I seem to be at a loss of words, because I cannot continue this review. My mind is drawing a blank, and its screaming to get ahold of the sequal.
Although answers were, after so many chapters!!!, answered, the biggest question remains--
"Did she really leave him? For good??"
Also another thing. I did not expect romance. It was a shocking revelation when they meet, and things just seem to heat up soon after. The only thing that seemed to discourage me was the fact that they fell in love too quickly, in both lives.
Oooppseee...
Thats my que to go. :)

P.S -- It has been brought to my attention that I should credit where I got the pictures and the details ( things in itallics).
I get the details from goodreads, where I have an account there. Look me up under the name Brooklynn N. Gibbs.
I have been recently been getting the pictures from photobucket, but in the past I have gotten them from goodreads, also.

Follow My Book blog Friday!

Well, I am new to this -- but I really want friends (and advice doesnt hurt). Looking forward to getting out there, and Im pretty sure Im gunna be following a lot more blogs.
Not sure what else to put here, so Im gunna go ahead with business.

I am in the middle of a book and in the next day or so, there shall be a new review! I didnt quite enjoy most of Hex Hall, but reading a preview of the next book has me hooked. Dont know why, but it was the same way with the House of Night series. Read the ending of the first book, then get hooked on the series because of the second book.

I am currently reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone. So far, the beginning was slow, and the whole reason Im in the middle of the huge book is out of pure curiosity. I cannot understand the names-- they dont stick with me like the characters of a book should-- or much else, but the concept of the story line is interesting. I thought it was about Fae, but I have angels and strange creatures instead.
The one question Im asking now is ---
"Will our heroin find her way into the portal? Will it go to the right place?". Plus, Im kinda interested in the angel dude. Next to vampires, werewolves and demons, their some pretty hot guy in Fantasy Romance books.

The Iron King

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart
---
So, the beginning of the book was pretty slow. I had to skip it. Things started to get interesting when she saw ash, but in the middle of the book, it kinda slowed down some.
but, I really liked the book, but I'm not totally in love with the book. I'm planning on reading the Iron Daughter out of pure curiosity, but from the descriptions that I have read on the whole series, I don't think I will want to read the newest book, and from what I gather, the author stretches the whole story line out, and I hate that.
But then again, my whole opinion on that last bit might change.
Another thing that irked me about this book was the cruelty the "cool" people made, for lack of words, towards Meghan. I mean, sure I'm not popular in school, and I live in a small town, but I have NEVER seen or heard such things as these people said or talked about this girl at my school. Yes, there are fights and some enemies because  of stupid things, and rumors, but never such nastiness as this.
It irks me because most authors portray high school, or even middle school as a world where girls or boys get called names and fake nude photos get sent to every cell phone for revenge. News flash, authors. Not all people converse with jocks and cheerleaders, and not all people only have one friend or something like that. Yes, there are clicks, but never one lone person. Im starting to think you guys need to go back to school. If it was like that when you guys WERE in school, get with the times. Not everyone is cruel.
However, one thing I loved about this book was the setting and the characters. I loved how it seemed like a cross between Shakespeare, Alice in Wonderland, and Wicked Lovely. I have not read A Midsummer Night`s Dream, but from what I have heard of it, the characters that the author portrayed them after were well written and it spiked a curiosity in me about the play.
Alice in wonderland comes to mind because of the cat, who has to be one of my favorite characters, the other being Puck, int eh whole story. It seems like they are the only one with a sense of humor.
Wicked Lovely because of the Winter and Summer courts, and how Meghan was drug into this strange new world. But, without the romance and having to marry the Summer King and all.
The world that the author wrote into this book was beautiful in my minds eye, and I loved how she had so many known, and unknown, characters gracing the pages. I learned a lot about the Fae from this book, whether or not its true or not.
I'm pretty sure I'm rambling now, do Ill finish up.
I rate this book 4 out of 5, simply because of the flaws I stated above. I plan on buying it, and recommend it to those who love reading about the mythical creatures called Fae, and who can stand the headache of trying to finish it. That was a funny. My headache came from the fact that I didn't read one lick of this story with my glasses on, like I was supposed to.

White Crow

It's summer. Rebecca is an unwilling visitor to Winterfold - taken from the buzz of London and her friends and what she thinks is the start of a promising romance. Ferelith already lives in Winterfold - it's a place that doesn't like to let you go, and she knows it inside out - the beach, the crumbling cliff paths, the village streets, the woods, the deserted churches and ruined graveyards, year by year being swallowed by the sea. Against her better judgement, Rebecca and Ferelith become friends, and during that long, hot, claustrophobic summer they discover more about each other and about Winterfold than either of them really want to, uncovering frightening secrets that would be best left long forgotten.

Interwoven with Rebecca and Ferelith's stories is that of the seventeenth century Rector and Dr Barrieux, master of Winterfold Hall, whose bizarre and bloody experiments into the after-life might make angels weep, and the devil crow.

Okay, So at first, this book was really slow. I'm serious. I'm halfway through the book before interesting things happen. Through out the beginning, everything was confusing. Apparently the father did something that made them go to the town, and they don't tell you what it is until the good stuff happens (after the middle of the book), and even then, they don't really go into details.
Another thing is, other than the scenery (which really was nice), there aren't really any details on the characters except Rebecca.
Something cool about the book, though? There are three point of views -- third, first, and a journal (which is really first). The journal tells the true story, about the Hall, and you will hear about it first when Ferelith tells Becca about it. Ferelith also kinda narrates the story. And what she does at the end? SHOCKING!! Wish I could explain more, but I'm trying to keep my reviews spoiler-free.
Its a must read, and its on my "read again" list. I highly recommend this book. There aren't really any bad content -- just a few minor cuss words at the end of the book.
I rate this, out of 5: 4 Roses.
Here's another thing I guess I should add. The reason I pick roses to rate my books have to do with my stories. None of them are published, but I'm planning on editing them a little more and publishing them as EBooks. Plus, I will also do a giveaway for a couple of them.
In quite a few of my stories, there are various roses, black, white, red... and I love them so much, I shall give my books some.
Speaking of giveaways, once I have enough fans, I am going to giveaway a copy of The Darkest Surrender, and maybe Blood rights. So, tell all! Wont giveaway shit if I don't get anymore followers.

The Body Finder

Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself.

Okay, so.... I had a hard time getting into this book. So, like I always do for some stupid reason, I skipped to the end. And... Kinda liked it.
What I liked about it? The cutesy romance. Just thinking about why I liked this book makes me wanna... slap myself.
But, I will admit, it is a good concept, and I am planning on reading the sequal. Although, looking at the comments on Goodreads.com for that one, I dont think I will. But, I can trust that it will end up in my house at some point or another.
The fact that annoyed me the most about this book is the fact that Jay`s not-so-subtle attempts at flirting with her go over Violet`s head, unnoticed. I mean, clueless??
But, I did like the fact that sometimes we could get a peek into the killer`s head. But, to me, he was revealed way to early.
Anywho.. that is pretty much all I can come up with. Any comments or opinions? Review.
