CeCe’s Reviews Blog Spot
Hi Ce-Ce. Thanks so much for allowing me to stop by as part of the Perpetual Light Blog Tour. I love your blog. The header is fantastic! It’s a great image. Right away it made me think of my topic for this post- creating a setting readers love.
I guess I might not be the most creative world-builder in that my characters exist in the world around me. Perpetual Light takes place in present day Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. The businesses and buildings all belong in a fictitious world, but the cities are all real.
They are all places I’ve been or read about, places that sparked something for me. As writers we have to build worlds that readers can believe exist. These worlds have to be places that seem real to the reader. They have to be vivid, credible places where readers can imagine themselves walking and sitting, cooking, working, running for their lives or loving a hero.
Our job is to engage the reader and keep her hooked by the little details. In Perpetual Light one of the things that Lucia notices and gets a laugh about is the fact that these vampires have a fully stocked kitchen, complete with glass-front cabinets housing perfectly displayed glasses and plates, a six-burner stove with an exhaust system that could suck the stove up, and a fridge full of food. They don’t eat food. She’s perplexed and amused by the fact that they behave like a normal family. Well, aside from the blood drinking and damned souls issue.
My characters dictated their surroundings, their world. They decided to live in modern day New England, which is fabulous by me since that’s where I live. However, they’re on the move, heading south, which means I’m on the move, researching.
I need to know the nitty-gritty about wherever they land so I can write a world readers will believe exists, one they can imagine living in.
I’m always fascinated by writers who develop “other worlds.” Like JK Rowling’s Hogwarts or JRR Tolkien’s Middle Earth or Penny Watson’s North Pole in her Klaus Brother’s Series or Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress Series. Such wonderful imaginations.
I’d love to hear about the worlds you loved living in for those brief moments while you enjoyed a story. Which writers whisked you away and completely wrapped you up in their stories?

Fate is cruel. Especially when the one you’ve sworn to love for all eternity, the very soul who changed your destiny is the last person you should trust.
After more than three hundred years of running, Lucia Dicomano must make a choice.
Forced to take her place as a Pharo of Redemption, the divine slayer needs to master her forgotten powers. Lucia turns to Vittorio, the one vampire she’s failed to deliver from eternal damnation. But overcoming smoldering remnants of love, lust and anger aren’t their only obstacles.
Samuel, who may know Lucia better than she knows herself, hunts her with a fervor stoked by a thousand years of vengeful hatred. His plan—capture and enslave the weakened Pharo then take control of her elusive power.
Can Lucia trust Vittorio long enough to reclaim her powers? Or will she have no choice but to kill him and battle Samuel alone?
About the Author:
After trying her hand at many, many things- from crafting and art classes to cooking and sewing classes to running her own handbag business, Jordan finally figured out how to channel her creativity. With an active imagination and a little encouragement from her husband she sat down and began to write, each night clicking away at the keys with her black Labrador, Dino curled up under the desk.
A few short years later she’s entered the publishing arena with no plans to ever turn back.
Jordan’s a member of Rhode Island Romance Writers, as well as RWA National, and the New England (NEC), Connecticut, and Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal (FFnP) Chapters.
Her first book, Perpetual Light, is available on Amazon’s Kindle from Crescent Moon Press.
