Review:Fighting for Everything (Warrior Fight Club #1) by Laura Kaye

Hey, readers! I know, I know! The last time anything was posted to this blog was about two years ago. Life happened to get in the way, and reading has become a luxury instead of something I did for pleasure every day. Yes, I still read some books, but not as much, and I never found the time to be able to write my thoughts out on the books I was reading.

Fast forward to November of 2017, and I found out that I was pregnant with my first child. Yay, right? Except the morning sickness has been really bad, and Ive even ended up in the hospital with dehydration. Boo!. However, one of the very few authors that I have followed throughout my hiatus has released a brand new series, and I KNEW I just had to read it! And man, am I glad I did. Without further ado, below is my review for Laura Kaye`s newest release, Fighting for Everything!

Fighting for Everything (Warrior Fight Club, #1)

Fighting for Everything (Warrior Fight Club #1)

by

Loving her is the biggest fight of his life…

Home from the Marines, Noah Cortez has a secret he doesn’t want his oldest friend, Kristina Moore, to know. It kills him to push her away, especially when he’s noticing just how sexy and confident she’s become in his absence. But, angry and full of fight, he’s not the same man anymore either. Which is why Warrior Fight Club sounds so good.

Kristina loves teaching, but she wants more out of life. She wants Noah—the boy she’s crushed on and waited for. Except Noah is all man now—in ways both oh so good and troubling, too. Still, she wants who he’s become—every war-hardened inch. And when they finally stop fighting their attraction, it’s everything Kristina never dared hope for.

But Noah is secretly spiraling, and when he lashes out, it threatens what he and Kristina have found. The brotherhood of the fight club helps him confront his demons, but only Noah can convince the woman he loves that he’s finally ready to fight for everything.

Let me start out by saying, OMG! I'm fangirling, guys!  I haven't been so drawn into a story in so long, I couldn't come up for breath! I read this amazing book in less than a day. A DAY! The chemistry between Noah and Kristina burned so slowly and beautifully, I couldn't help but power read my way through the pages.

Fighting for Everything was an awesome introduction into the Warrior Fight Club, although I wish there was more of the actual club in the book. While not focusing on that, however, the turmoil our main characters face more than makes up for that fact. Honestly, I cannot wait until August to see if this book can be topped! I laughed, cried multiple times, held my breath, and rooted for them both to get their heads out of their butts and communicate!

To be honest, I`m anticipating how Laura Kaye is going to top this book with the second, and I am counting down the days to August!

Noah suffers from a form of PTSD, having been discharged after an accident. He has trouble seeing and hearing out of one side, and the turmoil and pain he experiences throughout this story really brings to light the trouble our vets experience in real life, and its portrayed in a better way than I have ever read in any other books. Im also awed at the fact this his issues are continually portrayed instead of just mentioned then never shown just to add some sort of drama like most other books do.

Kristina is a very likeable character, you can tell the love she has for Noah. It was great watching how she grows, and eventually comes to the realization that Noah means more to her than she previously thought. Honestly, it was great seeing two friends realize this, and I may have found a new trope. It was written out beautifully. I wish the book had been longer, because I couldn't get enough of these two. I hope to see more of them in future books.

All- in - all, I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who loves romance, and very well written ones at that. The slow burn is perfect, the chemistry even more so. 5 out of 5 stars!

Review: Vampire Girl by Karpov Kinrade

 Vampire Girl

Vampire Girl

by

From USA TODAY bestselling author, Karpov Kinrade, comes a new series that will suck you in and leave you wanting more. For fans of Twilight, A Shade of Vampire, and Outlander comes a fantasy romance with an original twist on an old tale.

***

You think it's safe to walk alone at night. It's not.

You think the only threat is other humans. It's not.

Monsters are real. Demons are real. Vampires are real.

And I'm about to become one of them.

My name is Arianna Spero. I was an ordinary girl, living an ordinary life, until my mother lapsed into a coma. Now, I am her only hope. She made a deal with the devil, and on my 18th birthday he came to collect. But there's a way to save her. There's something the princes of hell want more than my mother.

Me.

So I signed my soul away and promised to pick a prince to marry. I would take the blood oath, become one of them, and give them an heir. I would become a princess of hell, and my mother would live.

I expected fire and brimstone. I expected pain and misery. I didn't expect beauty. I didn't expect magic.

I didn't expect love.

But the princes are keeping secrets from me.

Secrets that could shatter everything.

Join Aoleon and Gilbert in this exciting middle school sci-fi adventure!

The story is coming along nicely; the climax soon approaching. In this part, we learn more about Mar`s history and see Earth preparing for war. Our heroes face even more hurdles that they must overcome.

There is a bit more action in this book than the others, and I was left on the edge of my seat. I devoured this book and quickly picked up the next.

In the past, I had some difficulties in liking the images, but they are starting to appeal to me. Not as awkward as before.

All in all, I enjoyed this leg of their journey. It was filled with danger, action, humor, and self discoveries. One of my favorites so far.

Review: Aoleon the Martian Girl Part 2 by Brent LeVasseur

24485092

Science Fiction Saga - Aoleon The Martian Girl - The Luminess of Mars
Aoléon and Gilbert receive a special mission from PAX, a wanted criminal and leader of the Martian resistance movement to investigate the Luminon of Mars, who he suspects is planning an invasion of Earth to steal its milk cows. Gilbert has an encounter with the Luminess (the mate of the Luminon) and discovers something strange about her during a procession, and the duo are chased by the Royal Paladin Guard.
At Aoléon’s home, Gilbert meets Aoléon’s family, her sister Una, mother Phobos and father Deimos as well as her overzealous pet Zoot. He is also introduced to Bizwat, a covert operator and Procyon Commando, who uses his Saturn Pizza delivery job as a cover.
Gilbert then gets to visit the Martian Space Academy (Aoléon’s school) where he encounters Aoléon’s nemesis, Charm Lepton and her friend Quarkina, as well as receiving a history lesson on the Martian people by Plutarch Xenocrates. After class, Gilbert and Aoléon get to train in zero-G and Gilbert is treated to a Psi-ball match between Martian Space Academy and Martian Science Academy.

Part 2 picked up where part 1 left off. There is some action in it, but for the most part it wasnt too... thrilling, if thats the word. We meet Aoleon`s parents and see her school, and learn some new information about the Luminon.

Ive simply determined that this series is just a big science lesson. More descriptions that are hard to follow were used, but hey, Im learning something new.

The illustrations still dont appeal to me. Ive even had someone who was reading over my shoulder even mention something. They are kind of cool, but they are also really different and is not for everyone.

All in all, Im looking forward to what is in the next book. Its picking up, and I have high hopes for part 3.

Review- Aoleon the Martian Girl Part 1

Science Fiction Book - Part 1 First Contact - Aoleon The Martian Girl (Aoleon The Martian Girl #1)

by
Science Fiction Book - Part 1 First Contact - Aoleon The Martian Girl

Crop circles magically appear in Farmer Johnson’s field. A mysterious light sweeps over the night sky and awakens Farmer Johnson and Gilbert, the boy next door.

Curious, Gilbert ventures out to discover the source of the light and stumbles into a beautiful Martian girl sitting in a crop circle. Farmer Johnson also investigates the strange light, and thinking that Gilbert and Aoléon are vandals, he chases them. But they sprint to Aoléon’s saucer and escape only to be pursued by the U.S. Air Force.

Gilbert has never been attacked by swarms of giant killer robots. Never met strange aliens from other worlds. Never skyboarded across a megalopolis hidden deep inside an extinct volcano. Never trekked across a vast Martian desert. And never been eaten alive by a gigantic slor (well, almost never, unless you count Billy the fat bully at school).

And luckily, he has never ever confronted an evil ruler of Mars bent on conquering the Earth to steal its cows.

Never...until now!

This may be the adventure Gilbert always wished for.

If only he can survive.

Join Gilbert and Aoleon in this exciting middle-grade science fiction and fantasy adventure

Aoleon the Martian girl was unlike any book I have ever read. I couldnt put my finger on what audience the book was aimed for, but its not for little ones and its not really for adults. There were words used as descriptions that would confuse young people, and even as and adult, I had a hard time keeping up at times.

A majority of the book was based on Earth, and the last chapeter on Mars, the home planet of the ailen. Part 1 was pretty short, with a great portion of pictures.

I wasnt a big fan of the pictures. When I saw that the book had them, I was excited, but they werent to my taste. It looked heavily animated, and a bit cliche. Honestly Im a big fan of the old fashioned illustrations, so to each their own. What I dont like, someone else will love.

But all in all, it was pretty interesting and Im looking forward to the rest.

ARC Review: With Visions of Red by Trisha Wolfe

With Visions of Red

With Visions of Red (Broken Bonds #1)

by
Criminal profiler Sadie Bonds knows blood. Her affair with the gruesome, dark world of killers began long before she started applying her analytical skills to investigate gory crime scenes. She gets inside the killers’ heads, breaks them down, relates to them on an arcane level. She prefers it this way—because it’s safer to ally herself with the villain than the victim. At least, that’s how she’s coped ever since she was abducted and tortured as a teen.

She will never be a victim again.

Now, she’s honed her skills in order to bring justice to these ritualistic offenders. Working alongside her colleagues, armed with sharp wit and a SIG, Sadie always catches her sadist. Until one ruthless serial killer gets inside Sadie’s head, turning the tables. He knows her secrets. Her obsessions. The darkest, most deviant part of her soul.
