With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.
Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

That is what this book is Bitter Sweet. The writing has improved 10 fold this time around and the flow of the story really has a good pace. So much better than the last couple of books and I was able to read in one sitting and not toss the book across the room because of angry at the choppy storyline.
The Sookie that we have grown to love and get angry at thru the series is still a little bubbling southern girl at heart. She is watching her friends lives pass her by literally. They are getting married (Jason) having babies (Tara), and generally growing up. Sookie seems stuck to me at the mercy of those around her as she lets things happen to her without taking charge.
The Fae situation is as strange as every with Claude being the ring leader. The collection of Fae that Claude was collecting at the strip club is disturbing to Sookie and it turns out it should be. Uncle Dermot is different but he truly loves Sookie, which is something that Sookie really needs.
Sookie has a trip thru past boyfriends that ties up ends and lets the reader in on the status of each of them. The best was her time with Bill, I am not a Bill fan but I appreciate the fact that he loves her still and she loves him, yet know there will never be a chance for something more than friendship. Eric, Eric, Eric what can I say about Eric and Sookie as a couple. They love each other even without the "BOND" yet they can't seem to have that mature conversation that we all know they need to have. I want them to work but I can't see how they will with the decisions they both have made up to this point. My heart aches for them but apparently Charlaine's plan is different. I believe Sookie wants Eric to stand up for them as a couple and he wants her to do the same thing but that never happens.
