Review: Rule by Jay Crownover (Marked Men #1)

Rule (Marked Men, #1)

Rule (Marked Men #1)

by
Opposites in every way . . . except the one that matters

Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight--A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn’t want--and the only person she’s never tried to please. She isn’t afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won’t listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother’s girl. She lives by other people’s rules; he makes his own. He doesn’t have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she’s the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other.

~Review~

Ok, First off.... *Drool*. I loves me some hardcore tattooed men. Seriously. However, I hate the dumbasses. Is Rule one? Maybe. So many things amaze me about him that I just want to choke him. To death. Sometimes. After jumping his bones. *Insert Evil Laugh Here*
While this wasn't a perfect book, it did such me in. THAT is why its such a good book to me. While I would have loved to have been pushed to the point of bawling, I just couldn't put this freaking book down.

I loved the characters, the setting, the situation, the steamy bits (Because yea, Rule is smexy). I honestly cant wait to read more books from this author. She just knows how to create a world and a situation you just cant seem to stop loving and paying attention to. I haven't had good reason this year to blow off everyone and not pay attention in school -- this book gave me the opportunity! And my mother loved it, too. And shes old.

Shaw, while her name (Like Rule`s) is weird, she definitely isn't. I feel for her a little. She just wants to please everyone and while I had my "I want to choke her so bad" moments, I kind of understand where she comes from. Just like Rule, you cant help but want to take her in your arms and protect her. And its sooo sweet that Rule does. While I'm not satisfied with WHY he started paying her attention, I guess it has to do considering the circumstances - and man- in the book. Its just shocking.

And speaking of shocking... I cant say I was as shocked about things that should have been shocking as I was about things that probably shouldn't have been. If you understand any of that.

The secondary characters were fun. I enjoyed reading about Rule`s hot as sin brother and his equally sexy friends. Hope to see them in future installments. Shaw`s roommate and BFF is a spunky piece of work and I cant wait to see her fall in love --wink wink. I just want to see more of the rest of the cast, that's how much of an impression they made on me. And that says something because usually the author focuses on the main characters and under-develops the secondary ones. But not Jay Crownover. Shes damn determined to give you the full Marked Men experience!

Long review short, I freaking LOVED this book and I recommend you go out and get it. Thanks to the author or whoever for the review copy! I'm certain its going to disappear from my house (Don't you just love bookworm friends?)  soon. Cant wait to get my hands on a copy of Jet and delve into the world of the next sexy as hell marked man. Hoping to see more of Rule and Rome. The man, not the place. But I would probably faint from touching him as much as I would from touching the place.

PS: Can I have my own Rule? I promise to love him! <3
