ARC Short Review: Fireblood by Trisha Wolfe
Fireblood by Trisha WolfeMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Once again Trisha weaves a compelling story and world that just sucks readers in and doesnt let them go. I fully enjoyed reading another one of her books. While it took me a bit longer to read this one, once it hit that certain spot I didnt want to put it down.
The characters are amazing and I wouldnt change a thing about it. The POV annoyed me a bit because I felt that it should have been third person. It would have been much much better if we could delve into the minds of the other characters. Maybe a bit more jucier, too ;) The romance was good and OMG I want Devlan.
Im suprised, too, because Im not used to her books actually having a non cliff hangy ending. I dont have to anticipate another book even though I found multiple spots she could have cliffed us at.
All in all, there isnt much to say about this book other than the fact that you should go out and buy it. Stat.
Seriously, youll love it. I love Trisha`s writing style and the worlds she builds and the characters just fit. And while this review totally sucks and I promise to re-do it, take this as a hint to BUY IT WHEN IT COMES OUT!
Fireblood (Fireblood #1)
by Trisha Wolfe (Goodreads Author)To save a kingdom, Zara must choose between a prince who could be the answer and a rising rebellion that threatens to take control.
When Zara Dane is chosen to marry Prince Sebastian Hart, son of the man who ordered her father’s capture, Zara knows she must fight to save everything she loves from ruin.
Being betrothed to the prince means a life trapped behind the towering stone walls of the Camelot-forged realm. Under the watchful eye of the prince's first knight, Sir Devlan Capra, changing her future becomes difficult.
When an unlikely rebel reveals the truth about the deadly secrets that fuel King Hart’s twisted world, Zara’s path to rescue her father becomes clouded by deception. The Rebels clear her path by forcing Zara’s hand with an ultimatum: sway Prince Sebastian to join the Rebels, convincing him of his father’s evil nature, or they will take him out.
But Zara is uncertain about a future under the Rebels’ command and where the prince’s heart truly lies. She must decide who to trust, what to believe, and what she’s truly fighting for before the king destroys all of Karm, including her heart.

Review: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
The Raven Boys by Maggie StiefvaterMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Ok, I confess, I havnt really read any of Maggie Stiefvater`s books. I skimmed through some, couldnt get past the first chapter in The Scorpio Races, then saw this one and thought I would give it a try, not realizing that those books were written by the same author as this one.
THANK GOD FOR THAT! I freaking loved this book from the beginning. While I was expecting more romance, the abundance of action made up for it.
One thing Im thinking about, though -- how much research did she do to write this book and how much of it was true and made up?
Props for making what seems like an ordinary YA book with people who have normal social and high school problems turn out to be a VERY interesting action story that has a touch of paranormal and magic. I though this would be one of those forbidden romance because of society books, and I understand that in a way it is -- but at the same time it isnt.
I was ripped through corners I didnt expect to be there throughout most of the book and I was emotionally involved. I skimped on school work to finish this (although a couple of times I was wondering how LONG it would take me to finish the book because it was LONG!)
Because of this book I am willing to give her other ones another try.
Now, the characters.
Blue is amazing. Shes tough and quirky and very secretive. I loved her from the moment she stood up for herself against Gansey.
Gansey? Im still unsure about him, but I have a feeling I will come around with him in the next book. I cant tell whether or not hes a stuck up rich kid or what.
Everyone else? They are strong secondary characters and I loved that about this book. Already I can tell who is loyal and who is about to jump off the deep end. Its fascinating, really.
I do suggest that any paranormal YA reader should pick this up as soon as they can. Its a must have on any bookshelf and I cant wait to buy my own copy, along with the second.
The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1)
by Maggie Stiefvater (Goodreads Author)“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”
It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.
His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.
From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before
Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Cinder by Marissa MeyerMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
So, this is my first time I have ever read her books, and it did take me a while to get ahold of this one. I must say... Im impressed. I love fairytale retellings, and when I found out that this one is a steampunk-ish retelling, I just HAD to read it.
Although at some points I thought it was a little wordy and there were parts that I felt could have been skipped over, I realized at the end of the book that it was all actually necessary towards the perfection that was this book.

*Pow!* Review: The Collector by Victoria Scott
So, you may have seen this bad buy around lately. His name is Dante Walker, and he will blow your socks off! Not really, but his arrogant attitude might make you want to take yours off and shove them in his mouth ;).
Everyone was just raving about The Collector, and because I had missed the deadline for the tour, I requested it on Netgalley as soon as I saw it pop up. And lemme tell you, it was better than I had expected! I do like my favorite book guys with some "swag", but Dante takes the cake. Hes borderline jerk, but for some reason I didnt hate him like I knew I should have.
I just sat there and grinned like an idiot because I knew by the end of the book he was going to get his ass handed to him by this little thing called L-O-V-E. It was so amazing, and I didn't mind that it was in first person POV at all. In fact, Dante was so hilarious that I couldn't help but laugh my ass off - or try not to because I didn't want the teachers to know I was ignoring them to read.
